Making Memories in Mississauga

A mere fortnight after my tour of our nations' capitol, I hit the road and headed north. My friends, most of whom you met on my Caribbean cruise, and I decided to make use of our passports as much as possible. In the United States, there are two different passport offerings: the book and the card. The cheapest option is the card, which offers land and sea travel to the owner of said card. The book, for a slightly higher cost, also allows travel via air. Both items are valid for 10 years to the citizen and is the gateway to the USA when coming home. With a mixture of both passports, it was easy to plan our next adventure: Canada.

Living in Northwestern Ohio, Canada isn't a far stretch to get to. Regardless of method of travel, you can arrive via the Ambassador Bridge through Michigan or the Peace Bridge in New York, both within a few hours drive. We were lucky enough to experience both passageways on our weekend getaway, the first of which through the Ambassador Bridge. The planning of our trip consisted of stops along our drive to our AirBnB in Mississauga, ON. One of which was a source of great nostalgia for myself- Stratford. A mere 3.5 hour drive from my home, Stratford, Ontario is the home of the Stratford Shakespearean Festival, which I was able to attend following my graduation in 2014.

Stratford is a quaint little town and made for a great stopping place on our 5 hour journey to our Airbnb. With Lake Victoria and walking paths a plenty, Stratford was a great place to stretch our legs after driving for almost four hours. Besides the Studio Theatre and Festival Theatre, you can also find shops and restaurants a plenty for whatever your tastes may be. We walked along the trails, I climbed a tree or two, and we made our way to a pizzeria for a bite to eat. Following our delicious meal, we ventured into a few of the local storefronts before heading to have some ice cream and my friends even tried poutine! Afterwards, with full bellies and a great feeling of excitement, we ventured the rest of the drive to the Airbnb which would house us for the weekend in the city of Mississauga.

A hop and a skip away from Toronto, we were housed in a condo overlooking the city's Celebration Square, a mere car ride away from the Square One shopping plaza. After getting settled in our three bedroom condo and resting up for a bit, we drove over to the mall for a few hours to do some shopping, stretch our legs, and see the area. After closing down the mall and grabbing a bite to eat, we settled in for the night. Before bed, we played a few rounds of card games and chatted on what tomorrow may bring. Eager to hit the town , and do some touring of Canada, there were so many options. We had a blank agenda but were excited to fill our schedule for the day with tons of fun and memorable memories.
