A Lazy Liberty Day

After such an exciting day in Nassau, we were excited for a relaxing day on board the Liberty. Unfortunately, this was our last day of cruising before starting the long route back to Ohio. We slept in a bit and then shuffled mindlessly up to lido deck to grab some grub before heading to watch a few shows for the day. Our agenda, while relaxed, was packed as we were trying to take in as much as possible from our trip. We headed up to the top deck for a few rounds of mini golf and to take in the charismatic atmosphere that Carnival shares with its cruise partakers. From our vantage point atop the Liberty, we were able to people watch, ocean gaze and observe many of Carnival's fun family themed events. One of which was Groove for St. Jude. Carnival features on all of its ships "Groove for St. Jude", a fundraising event for raise money for St. Jude, a popular children's research hospital. With a small donation, Carnival will present you with an event t-shirt and wristband to wear while you get down for a good cause.

After the dance-a-thon, we explored some more of our ship. You'd think after three days of living on board the ship, we'd know our aft and fwd from mid ship, but I can tell you even after a 7 day cruise it can still be very confusing! We made our way through the maze of the ship back to Lido to grab some grub before heading to pack up our staterooms. We were to be back at port before 8am, so as a group we discussed waking up to watch the sunrise. We wanted to enjoy our last evening aboard ship and decided to get organized before dinner so we could eat and take in our last night on the Liberty. As the sun went down, we went down to the lobby (level 3) and walked around on the balcony and snapped some pictures. It felt surreal to me. I felt so small. Water as far as the eye can see, no land in sight, I thought to myself "wow, how are you not freaking out?". Not that I was afraid to cruise mind you, but as I thought of the human condition and the vast openness around me, I was both lost and found. I don't think I have ever felt so close to the earth and in tune with nature. I felt home. I was relaxed and happy and carefree. I was so thankful for the opportunity to take this trip and for everything that had occurred. With a few more pictures, a delicious last dinner with our dining team, and a quick jaunt back to lido, we tucked in for the night. as 5am comes early.
