As I awoke at 11 pm on May 9th, I couldn't help but feel super excited. This was the day we had been waiting for! In just about 2 hours, two of my friends would show up, and I would be on the road to our first stop of our cruise trip vacation: Nashville, Tennessee. I would end up driving from Perrysburg, Ohio to the Parthenon in Nashville, a total of eight hours. Though bleary eyed and tired, we ended up making it safely to Nashville at 7 am (their time). We then spent a number of hours exploring the Parthenon, and the beautiful Centennial Park which surrounds it.
Why Nashville? What is the Parthenon?
Nashville seemed to be the perfect first stop. I had only been once, years ago, for a quick over-nighter on our way back from mission and I knew that there was loads for us to do. As we would have three or four stops on each leg of our journey to and from Port Canaveral, I knew we could easily spend a few hours here. 8 hours seemed to be the perfect stopping point. As the girls and I were already spending a good chunk of change on the cruise, we opted for finding free places to stop. The Parthenon ended up being perfect, as we did not configure for the hour time difference, and ended up in Nashville around 7 am. It gave us time to explore, take loads of photos, and stretch our legs after being in the car for hours. I definitely recommend stopping here, as it is the world's only replica of the true Parthenon in Athens. After the Parthenon, we drove to the Grand Ole Opry, and stopped for about a half hour to walk along the "Honkey Tonk Highway" before heading to Gabby's Burgers and Fries for a delicious lunch before departing towards our next destination: Atlanta!
